Doug Boduch

Doug Boduch began playing the guitar at the age of 8, after his mom noticed him playing air guitar to the car radio. He started with lessons from Sister Angela, a nun at his grade school. He quickly moved on to performing with the church choir. Then, through a friend of his brother's, he discovered the rock band KISS and decided some rock 'n roll was in his future. He joined a high school band at age 14 and began playing out in bars, sometimes coming in late to his classes with a note from his mom saying "Please excuse Doug from his early classes, he was out late performing at a bar!" During this time, Doug also studied classical guitar, attending master classes at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. After high school, he got an offer to tour the country with a hard rock band and spent a few years on the road. After returning, Doug started teaching privately and also started working for Hal Leonard Corp, the world's largest print music publisher. His main responsibility at the company was recreating the recordings of the most iconic guitar songs for products that feature interactive play along tracks. This provided him with an incredible learning opportunity to hone his skills on nearly every style of guitar playing, from jazz to blues to heavy metal to bluegrass and beyond. He developed a strong love for fingerstyle guitar, blending many elements of his classical guitar training. He also enjoyed using his shred chops, honed in the heavy metal style, on some modern rock/flamenco. Now Doug splits his time between teaching, performing, and working for Hal Leonard, recording audio and video and authoring guitar instructional books.
